RUGER BLACKHAWK AIR RIFLE

The first steps most of us make into the world of guns is quite often with an air rifle, in Europe it was usually break barrel spring piston rifle while in the USA, it is predominantly  pump action and break barrels guns. As the watchmaking industry is very similar to the air rifle production it is not surprising that the most of quality rifles came from mid-Europe manufacturers. Established in 1890, the German Dianawerks or short Diana is one of the most popular brands in airgun industry. While in the rest of the world this rifles are marketed under name Diana, in USA these guns are known today to the shooting public under the name RWS, the trademark of Dynamite Nobel, owner of the Dianawerks.
The majority of airgun enthusiast and experts agree that the most popular spring-piston rifle sold by RWS/Diana is model 34 which is an all-round gun, and will keep you shooting accurately and powerfully for decades. With clean lines and classic style this rifle is an example of German engineering offering accuracy and power packed into one affordable gun.
Ruger is considered as one of the leading US firearms manufacturers known by its ruggedness, unrivalled quality and best price range. Unlike firearms, the whole Ruger series of air rifles are made in China and clone of the Diana RWS Model 34 is known in China under the name XISICO XS25S and on US market as Ruger Blackhawk air rifle.
The Ruger Blackhawk is basically a very good clone of the much more expensive Diana RWS 34P Air Rifle and one definate advantage is that the most of the parts are interchangeable, for example springs and seals. To be clear, the RWS is a better gun and more expensive, while the Ruger quality is generally good but not up the standards of the famous Model 34, a German classic.
Immediately recognizable by its black, all-weather synthetic stock, the Blackhawk offers an elegant, nicely designed rifle with innovative features with an affordable price. The Ruger air rifle’s stock is ambidextrous in other words, it is suitable for use both by left-handed and right-handed hunters. The Blackhawk has comfortable checkered grip areas in both the pistol grip and forearm positions. Though this gun resides in the cheaper price tag category, it proves to be a very good performer, pushing .177 caliber (4.5 mm) pellets through its 18 3/4″ (476 mm) rifled barrel at 1,000 fps (305 m/s) muzzle velocity.
The Ruger Blackhawk air rifle is a spring piston single stroke break barrel with easy single 30-lb (13.6kg) cocking effort. It`s important to note that a new spring piston guns needs a break-in period to allow the internal parts to start working smoothly together, and shooters will have to really knock the gun with his palm rather hard for the first hundred or so pellets. Although some serious shooter prefers a manual safety, this gun has automatic safety. The best feature of this air rifle is a two stage military style trigger, meaning that first stage provides resistance and the second stage is clean and crisp and breaks at about 3.5 pounds (1.58 kg) of pull, and all that thanks to the fully adjustable copy of the T05 Diana trigger. Nowadays, Diana/RWS 34 use a redesigned T05 trigger, named TO6, with the exceptionally light pull of only 1 lb. 3.6 oz. (0.55 kg). When we talk about pulling the trigger, it must be noted that the spring air gun takes some getting use too, it is not recommended to be shouldered tightly like a shotgun or high-powered rifle but just a nice slightly firm, consistent grip, supporting the gun along the four points that contact your body. This technique of rifle holding is known as the Artillery Hold.
The Ruger Blackhawk rifle has an adjustable rear sight and fixed front sight, both fitted with high-visibility fiber optics giving you fast target acquisition which is a huge advantage when shooting in low-light condition like dusk. Furthermore, with accuracy of about 1 inch at 25 yards with ordinary pellets, the Ruger Blackhawk can be used for target shooting, small game hunting and pest control with an effective shooting range of up to 50 yard. Unlike any other powerful spring rifle, this one does not shoots well with too light pellets making the best results with projectiles weighing about 8 to 9 grains (0.51-0.58 g) while too heavy pellets weighing over 10 grains (0.65 g) are no good for the spring in a rifle with this power range.
Noise level for the Ruger Blackhawk has been rated medium for a spring/piston air rifle of this power level, so it is not very noisy or super quiet. Break barrel guns require a lot of care as well as firearms, so be sure to clean and oil it after each use and store it in a dry place just like a real gun. And of course it’s not recommended to dry fire any air gun since it can bottom out the spring.
Ruger has included 4 x 32 optic with 2 piece mounts in Combo package. The air gun scope with duplex reticle has the 32 millimeter objective lens with 4x magnification giving shooter field of vision of 32′ (9,8m) at 100 yards giving you the ability to easily pick off  rodents at 50 yard range,
Because it can kill animals the size of groundhogs, this air rifle is not a toy so it requires adult supervision and can be used for plinking, shooting practice and rodent elimination.
